When a test taker successfully starts a test, we count it as a Test Attempt (Attempt, for short). For example, if there are 30 students and they attempt 2 tests each, the total number of Test Attempts is 30 x 2 = 60.
Our Pricing doesn't individually depend on how many test takers you have, or how many quizzes you create. Our Pricing Calculator helps you calculate the cost directly.
A timer-only test is a test that has no proctoring enabled. You can only set test duration, a time window, etc.
With a proctored test, you obviously can enable proctoring. A test with timer and proctoring both enabled is just called a proctored test.
Yes, when you create an account with us, you get 10 Test Attempts for free. You can use them for a timed-only test, proctored-only test or both. There is no time limit for when these Attempts expire. Once you are convinced that AutoProctor works for you, you can subscribe to one of our plans.
It depends on your requirements! For each plan, this page has details of what features you get. Click on the Info link to see what they mean.
Obviously, the more expensive the plan, the more features you get. Broadly speaking, if you are a Team, you should get the Premium Plan. If you are looking at advanced features like Question Banks or API access, you should get the Elite Plan.
To use AutoProctor, you need to subscribe to our monthly, quarterly or annual plans. You pay a fixed price for each period and you get a fixed number of Test Attempts for free. For example, on our least expensive plan, you get 150 Attempts each month.
You can purchase a monthly subscription and cancel it within the month. The cancellation link is within your dashboard. If you need it a few months later, you return to AutoProctor and reactivate the subscription.
Because cancellation is very easy and immediate, you can use our monthly plans as if you were using it only when you want.
While a subscription gives you some Test Attempts for free, if you need more, you can purchase additional Test Attempts. We call this topping up your subscription. The cost is for 150 Test Attempts.
For example, let's say you want to assess 600 candidates. You can purchase the monthly subscription to get 150 Attempts, and top-up 450 Attempts. See our Pricing Calculator for the exact cost.
If you want multiple users to access the same account, you can do so by purchasing the Premium or Elite Subscription. With this, you can create a Team on AutoProctor. You can then add members to your Team.
Once you have a Team, you can share the Test Attempt balance with all members of the Team. For example, if you have 1000 Attempts in your balance, all members of the Team can use these 1000 Attempts. Team members can share tests and results too.
No, Test Attempts don't expire (that is, they are carried forward to the next billing cycle) as long as your subscription is active. For example, let's say you had 250 Test Attempts on 1st February. Your monthly subscription renewed on 2nd February. Your new balance will now be 250 + 150 = 400 Attempts.
You can upgrade a subscription to a higher plan to get more features. For example, from Standard to Premium. You can also upgrade your plan to move from a monthly to a quarterly plan.
Topping up a subscription means you are buying more Test Attempts. For example, if you have 150 Attempts in your balance and you need 300 more, you can top-up your subscription by 300 Attempts. Topping up doesn't change your plan.
When you create the subscription, we store the date when it was created and when you must be billed next. For example, if it is a monthly subscription, we automatically charge your card every month. Depending on your country's regulations and your card settings, this may happen automatically or you may need to authorize this every month. But, we will attempt to charge you whenever your billing cycle renews.
If your card doesn't allow the automatic charge, the subscription gets cancelled. We try to charge your card two more times if the first charge fails. If the card cannot be charged despite these attempts, the subscription is cancelled at our end.
Every time the attempt fails, you will receive an email from our payment gateway (Stripe). Please follow the instructions there immediately.
A subscription can be manually cancelled by you, or automatically cancelled because auto-renewal fails (as described above). A subscription cancellation results in the loss of any Test Attempts you may have.
For example, let's say you had 1000 Attempts in your balance and your credit card has expired by the time we tried to auto-charge you. If you don't fix the payment, your subscription gets cancelled and so your new balance will be 0. If you re-activate your subscription, you will start with a 0 balance.
We don't offer postpaid billing. But, because credits roll over (see Q9 above), you don't need postpaid billing. Just purchase a large number of test attempts and use them over years.
Some of our Enterprise customers upgrade to a yearly subscription, purchase a large number of Test Attempts and don't have to worry about Billing at all. If there are credits left over at the end of the year, they are carried over when the subscription renews.
The subscription process is the same for timer-only or proctored tests. The main difference is that, as long as your subscription is active, you can conduct as many timer-only tests as you want. There is no limit to timer-only tests.
No. Let's say you subscribed to a monthly plan on 14th March. You then manually cancelled your subscription on 18th March. The cancellation will only take effect on 13th April. You can continue to use AutoProctor until 13th April. We will just not auto-charge your card on 14th April.
That is, for every subscription, you are charged until the end of the billing cycle, and you can use AutoProctor until the end of the billing cycle. There is no pro-rated refund.
